21 1/2 inches…..waiting on weight.
Good thing we went with the larger onesie for Vera, Erin - she looks like a big, juicy baby!
WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?
So I told you about the spider last night, and my roommate and I are still terrified. She wakes up and asks me to go check and see if it’s out there. I told her that I half-expected it to be waiting right outside our door and ready to make it’s move. I timidly walk outside and see THIS HUGE MOTHERFUCKER WALKING BY!! It’s about a foot long. Is this a centipede?
In related news: I WILL NEVER LEAVE MY APARTMENT AGAIN!
I get home last night and my roommate is walking her dog and looks so spooked. She immediately tells me to not go up the stairs because there is a huge spider on the stairs and that when she saw it, she was paralyzed and had to make the brave decision to jump over it since her dog had already passed it.
My first thought is that she is overreacting and it’s a daddy long legs or something. I went up the stairs - camera ready - and saw it and became paralyzed myself. My heart started racing - this was by far the largest spider I had ever seen. I couldn’t even bring myself to take a picture of it, I was so scared.
Thankfully we have another set of stairs, so we didn’t have to confront the spider again. However, the spider totally confronted me in some nightmares last night. I drew this and have it placed outside my roomie’s door so that we don’t forget this day.
With Brian Van

1. I made this and put it above my bed when I was in college.
2. It’s a picture of me and Erin from Spring Break ‘05 in South Padre trying on sunglasses
3. I want to do the same thing (or something similar) with this picture Mills took from the meetup. He caught us in a natural laugh.
SO SPEAKING OF
Reminder that we’re having a little Tumblr get-together Wednesday. (That’s tomorrow!)
Where: Crown and Anchor, 7 p.m.
What: Burgers and beer.
Why? To indulge Brian Van’s ego or have a great time. Pick one and go with it!
I’m on a reblog roll this morning. But I can’t remember if I gave my confirmation that I will be here (and I believe Jake will make his first guest appearance too).

Six people might not seem like a lot for a Tumblr meetup, but the bar has been set pretty low in the past so it qualifies. Scorning the many flakes, Erin, Lacey, Nicki, Sydney, Will, and I got together at the Chimes to discuss all the rest of you, your habits, proclivities, aberrant tendencies, and secrets. It was astonishing.
Syd’s husband also attended and took perhaps the worst photographs in history, most of which aren’t included in this Flickr set. From gaming the waitress to doing lines in the crowded bathroom, it was a night I’ll never forget.
We somehow turned this meetup into an 8th grade dance with all girls on one side of the table, and boys on the other. However it was a small enough group with loud enough people that there were no problems. A few things that I remember we discussed:
- Q: Heather seems really cool… is she? A: hell no.
- Q: Why isn’t Chad here? A: he hates us all.
- Q: Will Mills go see Syd in the hospital after she has the baby? A: Ewwwww!
- Q: Are you done with those fries? A: No
- Q: Are any of you planning on coming to ACL? A: No, as you can see we’ve taken far better vacays this year, and could care less about going to some hipster meetup.
Overall it was a very good time and everyone was a lot of fun. Hopefully if they have another meetup, I will be in town and can catch it. (I didn’t mean to make it sound like a disease.)
Bright Eyes - The Calendar Hung Itself
This is easily the most emo song I can truly say that I love. And it bothers me calling Conor emo, but dammit, listen. Part of it is yes, nostalgia (wow, he’s grown up, huh?) but part of it is that’s it’s a very good song. I almost want to call it a guilty pleasure, but I don’t believe in those. Nevertheless, there’s a bit of inner conflict, since part of me sort of hates this song.
This is the song that got me into Bright Eyes. The lyrical content brilliantly captures puppy love obsesssion. The driving acoustic guitar is an aesthetic that I’ll always love (c.f. failure - pillowhead, converge - hanging moon).
I used to LOOOVE this song. I even had the email address calendarhungitself@hotmail.com - yeah shutup, it was high school.
