Joe and I were talking about this yesterday! I just assumed Louisiana would be one of the last to legalize gay marriage (see “school desegration”) and I put us about 10 years out. Joe was a bit more optimistic.
Since working at the legislature I’ve realized that Louisiana’s conservative lawmakers are Super Conservatives and about half our democrats are “rural democrats” (not “liberal democrats”) and tend to be pretty moderate. So yeah, look for us to take the plunge around 2020.
